Advance Yield Trial
The Advance Yield Test (AYT) is the second replicated field test for yield performance. Good performing varieties from PYT are selected for further testing in AYT. About 10 to 12 entries are accommodated in the AYT and each is planted on a 6 rows x 9 meters plot. AYTs are conducted in 11 sites all throughout the country.
The purpose of AYT is to evaluate the adaptability of new clones selected from the Preliminary Yield Test in a given location with specific climatic / soil conditions and/or pathogen complex. AYT will give indications on yield performance of the varieties in comparison with the commercial check and the highest performing variety in the region or locality.
Most Promising Varieties from the AYTs are forwarded to the Yield Verification Trial (YVT) for commercial scale performance.
